Rebel Wilson’s Memoir Redacted in U.K. Over Sacha Baron Cohen Allegations

Rebel Wilson’s highly anticipated memoir, ‘Rebel Rising,’ is set to hit bookshelves in the U.K. on Thursday, but with a notable difference from its international counterpart. According to publisher HarperCollins, the U.K. edition of the book will feature redacted passages related to Wilson’s experiences working with Sacha Baron Cohen.

The publisher stated that the redactions were made “for legal reasons,” specifically to address concerns raised by Baron Cohen’s legal team. While HarperCollins did not provide specific details about the redacted content, it emphasized that the affected sections constituted only a small portion of the overall memoir.

The move to redact portions of the book comes after Baron Cohen’s spokesperson vehemently denied Wilson’s claims of inappropriate behavior on the set of the 2016 film ‘The Brothers Grimsby.’ The spokesperson asserted that Wilson’s allegations were “demonstrably false” and contradicted by “extensive detailed evidence.”Baron Cohen’s legal team reportedly presented evidence that included “contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts” to support their claims.

Wilson, for her part, has remained defiant, alluding to a “massive a**hole” attempting to prevent the publication of her memoir. She later confirmed that she was referring to Baron Cohen. In a chapter titled “Sacha Baron Cohen and Other Assholes,” Wilson recounted alleged inappropriate behavior by Baron Cohen during the filming of ‘The Brothers Grimsby.’

While the redacted U.K. edition of ‘Rebel Rising’ may omit certain details, it is expected to provide a compelling account of Wilson’s life and career. The memoir is poised to shed light on her personal struggles, professional triumphs, and the challenges she has faced as a woman in the entertainment industry.
