Rebel Wilson’s memoir, ‘Rebel Rising,’ has faced legal challenges in the UK and Australia. The book’s UK release includes redactions in the chapter discussing Wilson’s allegations against actor Sacha Baron Cohen, specifically regarding an alleged request for a sexual act on the set of their movie ‘Grimsby.’ Wilson has publicly made these accusations, while Baron Cohen has denied them.
Wilson has vowed to remain vocal despite the redactions. The book’s release in Australia has been postponed until August 2024 due to legal concerns. Whether the Australian edition will also include redactions remains uncertain.
The dispute has resulted in delays and cancellations of Wilson’s press tours in her home country. While Wilson has attributed these disruptions to scheduling conflicts, sources have suggested that legal issues with the book are the underlying cause.
The Daily Beast has reached out to HarperCollins and representatives for Wilson and Baron Cohen for further comment.
