Christian Horner, the principal of the Red Bull Formula 1 team, has dismissed Lando Norris’s concerns that the sport has become boring due to the dominance of Max Verstappen. Norris suggested that the lack of competition at the top could turn off fans, but Horner insists Verstappen’s success is special, not dull.
Verstappen, armed with the fastest car on the grid, has won four of the five Grands Prix held this year and currently boasts a commanding lead in the championship standings. His long-term record is even more impressive, with 21 victories from the last 23 races.
Horner believes that Verstappen’s dominance should be appreciated as a ‘golden moment’ in F1 history. He emphasized that it is about enjoying the moment and that there are no guarantees Verstappen will have a car as good as the one he has now for the next five years.
Norris acknowledged that it can be frustrating for fans to see the same driver winning every race, but he believes that rule changes to curb Red Bull’s advantage are out of the question. He emphasized the importance of different teams having their own unique approaches to make F1 special. He suggested that making the regulations more simple, either by opening them up or closing them, could potentially address the issue.
