The world of mobile gaming has seen incredible strides, and RedMagic’s latest tablet, the RedMagic Nova, is ready to capitalize on those advancements. Launched globally today, the RedMagic Nova packs a punch with impressive specs that make it a powerhouse for running the latest, most demanding games. From what we’ve seen, it’s a strong contender for one of 2024’s best tablets.
This tablet is truly impressive, and that’s an understatement. Available in a sleek Midnight color, the RedMagic Nova offers two configuration options: 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage or 16GB of RAM with 512GB of storage. Starting at $499, the RedMagic Nova is incredibly affordable, especially when compared to phones with similar specs.
Under the hood, the RedMagic Nova is powered by the blazing-fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, boasting a whopping 3.4GHz clock speed. But what truly sets this tablet apart is its innovative cooling system: a 20,000 RPM internal fan that keeps the device cool even during intense gaming sessions. According to RedMagic, this cooling system can lower the core temperature by a remarkable 25 degrees Celsius, or 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine this with the massive 10,100mAh battery, and you have a tablet that can handle hours of gaming without breaking a sweat.
The 10.9-inch display strikes a perfect balance between being too small and too large. Its 144Hz refresh rate puts it on par with some of the best gaming monitors on the market. While the resolution is a bit unconventional at 2.8K (2880 x 1880), the 16:9 aspect ratio feels familiar and comfortable. RedMagic went the extra mile to give this tablet a distinct “gamer” vibe, from the RGB lights beside the camera to the way the cooling system is labeled in a retro 8-bit font. It’s immediately apparent that this is a gaming tablet, just as you can recognize an Alienware laptop as a gaming machine.
RedMagic showcased the tablet’s capabilities with demos of games like Honkai: Star Rail, Wuthering Waves, and Absolute Zero. All three games maintained an average frame rate of over 60 fps (frames per second) during a 180-minute play session at Ultra-High Quality settings. Of course, virtually any Android game can be enjoyed on the RedMagic Nova.
RedMagic claims this is the only tablet capable of handling AAA games, but that statement isn’t entirely accurate. The iPad Pro (and even the iPhone) can run games like Resident Evil and other recent titles. However, the RedMagic Nova is an incredible value proposition given its capabilities and price point.
