Yesterday in Paris, Pharrell Williams unveiled his debut collection for Louis Vuitton, drawing a star-studded crowd that included Sabrina Carpenter and Central Cee in the front row. Among the attendees, one celebrity stood out—Rema, the Nigerian singer and rapper who rose to fame with his infectious track ‘Calm Down’. This marked Rema’s first-ever appearance at a Vuitton show, and he expressed his excitement about the experience.
“It’s a great honor. I like the [brand]’s quality of design and the color palettes,” he shared, emphasizing his appreciation for the brand’s aesthetic. Rema further described his favorite aspect of fashion week: “What’s exciting about hitting fashion week is first off meeting people, and then secondly just getting inspired by how people like rock their fits,” he explained. “Everyone just has a mood, and a sense to come out with style.”
The new Louis Vuitton show certainly delivered on style, featuring a cool and tailored range of separates, from casual-cool shorts to full-on suits. Rema was particularly drawn to the designs in muted shades, with his favorite look being “the first set in all black, and all the black looks,” he said, adding, “All fire. And the white fur coats—tell LV I need that.”
Naturally, Rema also brought his own stylish touch to the occasion, sporting a varsity jacket and a Canadian tuxedo (double denim), complete with a striking statement chain featuring an upside-down house on fire. “I loved the simplicity of my look,” Rema remarked. “I love varsity jackets. It’s like a go to—it’s comfy. I feel like LV tapped in with my regular cozy style; when I saw the rack for the fitting, it was very easy to pick fits ’cause it felt like I saw my wardrobe.”
In recent times, Rema’s personal style has gravitated towards cool simplicity. “First thing, it has to be black,” he revealed about his signature wardrobe. “Recently, I’ve been doing a lot of shorts on trousers. I’ve been mixing checked shirts with hoodies and leather jackets. I’ve been mixing stuff the way I want to.” He also mentioned his growing interest in experimenting with silhouettes, embracing risk-taking for the summer season. “Sometimes when you pop out and try something new, you kind of get a little anxiety,” he admitted. “But seeing that other people fuck with this, like, ‘Shit—I’m an innovator.'”
Following the Vuitton show, Rema posed for paparazzi photos and caught up with fellow performers. “I met a couple of my colleagues, it was fun having great convos with them and laughing,” he said. “Especially Burna Boy; I properly had a conversation with him. And I had a good conversation with Pharrell, [where] I got the opportunity to express my gratefulness and happy I was to be at the show.”
With the excitement of the event behind him, Rema is back in creative mode, focusing on his music. “Music, music, music—everything that I’ve been working on for the past months,” he shared about his summer plans. “I’m planning to execute and express all of these ideas and have fun with it. Have fun and enjoy life. And personally, enjoy my money.”
