Removing a Home from Your Yale Keychain: A Step-by-Step Guide

Yale Keychain provides a centralized platform for managing multiple smart locks. However, if you need to remove a lock from your Keychain for any reason, follow these simple steps.

For guests staying at an Airbnb property, the lock will usually be removed automatically upon check-out. If not, reach out to the Airbnb host to have yourself removed from their guest list.

For guests staying at a lock property, follow these steps to remove the lock from your Keychain (note that this process may not be applicable in all situations):
1. Launch the Yale Access app.
2. Locate the lock you want to remove from your Keychain.
3. Navigate to the tab at the screen’s bottom.
4. Press the button.
5. Confirm the process in the pop-ups that appear.

As a lock owner, you can follow a different set of steps to remove the lock; however, this requires a full factory reset:
1. Open the Yale Access app.
2. Find the product you want to reset and tap on it.
3. Open the menu (located at the screen’s bottom-right corner).
4. Select followed by .

Performing a factory reset will restore all lock settings to their default values. While this is ideal if you plan to sell or remove the lock from your home, it’s not suitable if you plan to relocate it to another door within your property. In such cases, it’s better to simply rename the lock instead of performing a factory reset.

To rename the lock:
1. Open the Yale app.
2. Navigate to the Settings menu.
3. Find your device and select .
4. Change the lock’s name.

Consider using this option if you’re moving the lock from the front door to the garage or back door, as it’s a simpler alternative to a full factory reset.

Note that factory resets may encounter an error if you’re not connected to Bluetooth. If this happens, move your mobile device closer to your smart lock and ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Some products may provide a “Reset Anyway” option, allowing you to perform the reset remotely, such as after selling the lock or moving to a new property.
