Fifth-term state Representative Russ Diamond has secured the Republican nomination in the 102nd House District primary race, defeating challenger Rachel Moyer. According to Lebanon County election results, Diamond received 5,773 votes to Moyer’s 3,078 votes.
Diamond’s political journey began as a citizen opponent of the 2005 legislative pay raise. He has represented the 102nd district since 2016 and is scheduled to run unopposed in November, pending any write-in candidates.
Moyer, a conservative grassroots organizer from Jackson Township, serves as vice president of the Eastern Lebanon County School Board.
Diamond gained prominence in the legislature as an early and vocal critic of then-Governor Tom Wolf’s Covid-related business and school shutdowns in 2020. He co-sponsored successful legislation to limit a governor’s emergency powers. Diamond’s political platform aligns with conservative values, supporting election integrity, fiscal responsibility, and gun rights while opposing abortion rights.
In an interview with PennLive, Diamond expressed his confidence in earning a sixth term, citing his work on property tax issues and Election Code reforms. He emphasized the importance of Lebanon County’s representation in Harrisburg, given its rapid growth and significance.
Diamond currently holds the position of Republican chairman of the House Gaming and Oversight Committee. He also represents the House Republican Caucus on the Joint State Government Commission’s Election Law Advisory Board.
