Ponting emphasized Pant’s exceptional talent, stating that India cannot afford to overlook such a valuable player. He expressed delight over Pant’s progress in regaining his fitness, particularly in his wicket-keeping abilities and running between the wickets.
Regarding the evolving role of anchors in cricket, Ponting believes that teams should prioritize selecting aggressive batsmen who can adapt to different situations. He explained that the best players should be picked and entrusted with the responsibility of controlling their innings when necessary.
