RJC Backs Good’s Primary Challenger, Citing Pro-Israel Stance

The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) has endorsed state Sen. John McGuire (R) in the GOP congressional primary for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District. The endorsement comes after incumbent Rep. Bob Good (R-Va.) voted against a foreign aid package that included funding for Ukraine, Israel, and humanitarian aid for Gaza.

RJC CEO Matt Brooks stated that Good’s vote exposed his lack of support for Israel, while McGuire’s candidacy represented true friendship with the Jewish state.

Good has defended his decision, arguing that the aid to Israel was part of excessive spending that would saddle American taxpayers with debt. However, the RJC is not alone in opposing Good. The Republican Main Street Partnership is also seeking to oust the Virginia Republican.

Good’s district went for former President Trump by more than 8 points in 2020. The primary election for Good’s seat will take place on June 18.
