In a disturbing incident that occurred in the heart of Uptown, a man was subjected to a violent robbery in an underground parking garage. The attack unfolded at approximately 1:07 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2023, at a parking facility located at 15 N. Summit Ave.
According to a press release issued by the Park Ridge Police Department, the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was making his way towards the elevator when he was suddenly confronted by two male assailants. One of the offenders, described as wearing a ski mask, brandished a knife, while the other wielded a canister of pepper spray.
Without warning, the assailants launched their attack. The pepper spray was deployed directly into the victim’s eyes, causing immediate irritation and disorientation. As the victim stumbled, both assailants relentlessly struck him in the head, repeatedly sending him crashing to the ground.
In a desperate attempt to escape the brutal assault, the victim managed to regain his footing and flee the scene. However, the nightmare was far from over. As he ran for his life, he noticed a light grey sedan pursuing him. Fear propelled him forward, but the sedan continued to give chase.
Eventually, the victim managed to lose his pursuers and seek safety. He was later transported to a nearby hospital by Park Ridge paramedics, where he received medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Uptown community, leaving residents shaken and concerned for their safety. The Park Ridge Police Department is actively investigating the robbery and urging anyone with information to come forward. The assailants remain at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
