Ohio-based company Throwflame has finally released their long-awaited flamethrower-wielding robot dog, known as the Thermonator. This cutting-edge quadruped robot has a hefty price tag of $9,420 but comes equipped with impressive features.
The Thermonator boasts an ARC flamethrower mounted on its back, fueled by gasoline or napalm. It has a one-hour battery life, a 30-foot flame-throwing range, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for remote control through a smartphone. To ensure precise targeting and navigation, it includes a LIDAR sensor for mapping and obstacle avoidance, laser sighting, and first-person view (FPV) navigation through an onboard camera.
Throwflame envisions a wide range of applications for the Thermonator, including wildfire control and prevention, agricultural management, ecological conservation, snow and ice removal, and even entertainment and special effects. However, concerns may arise due to the potential dangers of flamethrowers, as they can be used as weapons or cause uncontrolled wildfires.
