Rocket League is a game that embodies ‘pure fun’. It’s simple to understand: drive a car, hit a giant ball into the opposing goal, and the first team to score the most points wins. This simplicity makes Rocket League incredibly accessible and enjoyable for everyone. But what about playing with friends who use different consoles? Is Rocket League a cross-platform game?
The answer is a resounding yes! Rocket League supports cross-platform play across a wide range of platforms: PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. This means you can team up with or compete against your friends regardless of the console they use.
When you jump into online matches, you’ll be placed in the same matchmaking queue as players from all these platforms. You won’t need any external accounts or special setups for crossplay. As long as your game is updated (since February 19, 2019), cross-platform play should already be activated. Just start a match and get ready to play with players from different consoles.
Even though cross-platform play is enabled by default, you can easily check and double-check the setting if you prefer. You can also disable cross-play if you want to play exclusively with players on your platform. To access this setting, go to the main menu, then Options > Gameplay. Look for the ‘Cross-Platform Play’ box, which will be checked if cross-play is enabled.
With cross-platform play enabled, you can participate in public matchmaking and private matches with players from other platforms. You can even add friends from other platforms in the Friends menu just like you would with players on your console.

By linking your Epic Games account, you can transfer your rank, battle pass progress, and unlocked items across all platforms. This means your hard-earned achievements and rewards will be available regardless of the console you choose to play on.
