Indian Skipper and Selection Committee Chairman to Hold Press Conference for T20 World Cup 2024 Squad Selection
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Chairman of the Selection Committee Ajit Agarkar will hold a press conference on May 2 to discuss the squad selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will be held in the West Indies and the United States of America. The press conference will be held at the headquarters of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Mumbai.
The BCCI on Tuesday named a strong 15-member squad for the tournament. Rohit Sharma will lead the team with all-rounder Hardik Pandya as his deputy. Notable inclusions in the squad include Shivam Dube, a rising star in Indian cricket known for his exceptional skills in spin bowling, and Yuzvendra Chahal, who recently became the first bowler with 200 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rishabh Pant, who has been out of the national team since December 2022 due to injuries sustained in a car accident, has also found his place back in the setup. Other notable inclusions include Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja, who will provide spin-bowling options alongside Chahal. Rinku Singh, who has been a revelation in T20 cricket in recent months, could not fit into the main squad and has been named as a traveling reserve.
On the other hand, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill failed to make it into the main squad but were included as reserves.
