Rohit Sharma Makes History as First Indian Captain to Lead in All ICC Finals

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has etched his name in the history books, becoming the first Indian captain to lead his team to ICC finals across all formats. This historic achievement comes as India faces South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday.

Rohit joins New Zealand’s Kane Williamson as the only captains to have achieved this prestigious feat. Williamson led New Zealand to the 2021 World Test Championship final, the 2019 ODI World Cup final, and the 2021 T20 World Cup final. While New Zealand lost both white-ball tournaments, they triumphed over India to claim the inaugural World Test Championship title.

Rohit’s journey to this milestone began with leading India to the World Test Championship final in 2023, where they faced off against Australia in England. He then guided the team to the ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad earlier this year.

With this achievement, Rohit solidifies his position as one of the most successful Indian captains in recent times. His ability to lead across all formats and consistently guide his team to the pinnacle of international cricket is a testament to his leadership qualities and strategic acumen.
