Days after a viral video emerged of Rohit Sharma and Abhishek Nayar sparking speculation about the former’s future with Mumbai Indians, Sharma requested a cameraman to cease recording a conversation on Friday. The earlier video, which was quickly deleted by KKR, captured Sharma expressing dissatisfaction with ongoing changes within the MI camp and hinting that it could be his last season with the franchise.
During MI’s preparation for their match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Sharma was caught on camera saying, “Everything is changing one by one. It depends on them, I don’t care about that.” He also referred to MI as his “home” and a “temple that I’ve built.”
Following the deleted video, KKR CEO Venky Mysore downplayed the incident, calling it a “storm in a teacup” and asserting that the conversation between Sharma and Nayar was on a different topic. However, Sharma’s recent request to stop recording suggests that the matter may be more sensitive than previously thought.
Meanwhile, in the match against Lucknow Super Giants, Sharma scored a half-century, taking his run tally past 400 for the first time in an IPL season since 2019. However, MI’s efforts ultimately fell short, and they lost by 18 runs in their final league game of IPL 2023.
