Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump Level in Snooker World Championship Quarterfinals

Seven-time champion Ronnie O’Sullivan and 2019 winner Judd Trump are both tied with their respective quarterfinal opponents after an absorbing day 11 at the Crucible in Sheffield. O’Sullivan, who looked out of sorts early against Stuart Bingham, fought back to level the match at 4-4 after the first session of their race to 13 frames. Trump, the world No. 2, is facing a tense final session against Welsh qualifier Jak Jones, who compiled a 117 break in the last frame on Tuesday night, leaving the match tied at 8-8.

Elsewhere, four-time champion John Higgins staged a late fightback to trail 2020 finalist Kyren Wilson 5-3. Higgins hit two centuries and a 73 break in the second half of the session to rally from 4-0 and 5-1 down. David Gilbert needs just three more frames against Stephen Maguire to reach his second world semi-final after previously reaching that stage in 2019. Gilbert ended an entertaining second session 10-6 ahead, despite Maguire reeling off three successive frames highlighted by a break of 111. Gilbert responded with a 130 total clearance before a 74 from Maguire in frame 16 kept his hopes alive.

The quarterfinal matches will resume on Wednesday morning with the remaining sessions. O’Sullivan and Bingham will be back in action for the second session of their match, while Trump and Jones will play the deciding session of their quarterfinal.
