Ronnie O’Sullivan Claims He’s ‘Already Broken the Rules of Snooker’

Ronnie O’Sullivan claimed he has ‘already broken the rules of snooker’ after his first round win over Jackson Page at the 2024 World Championship.

Leading 8-1 overnight, the seven-time champion didn’t need long to finish the job, opening up with a break of 70 before taking a tighter second frame to prevail 10-1.

Despite his convincing display, the ‘Rocket’ said afterwards he was still searching for his best form.

“I know the ability is there, I’m just trying to find the formula sometimes.” he told the BBC.

“That’s what I’m always trying to do. Just keep going. I’ve already broken the rules of snooker as far as I’m concerned, I’m still going at 48, 49, whatever it is. I’m just seeing what’s possible now.”

The 48-year-old is widely regarded as one of the greatest snooker players of all time, having won seven world titles, a record seven Masters titles, and a record 39 ranking titles.

He is also known for his outspoken personality and his willingness to push the boundaries of the game.

In 2020, he was fined £25,000 by the World Snooker Tour for making a series of controversial comments about the sport.

However, he has shown no signs of slowing down and is still a major force on the snooker circuit.
