Royal expert Richard Palmer believes that the British public’s unfamiliarity with Kate Middleton and Prince William’s children highlights the need for the monarchy to be more visible.
Palmer made his comments in response to the couple’s decision to break with their tradition of sharing a photo of their youngest son, Prince Louis, on his 6th birthday. He suggested that the lack of awareness among the public about the Wales children could contribute to a diminished perception of the monarchy’s relevance and legitimacy.
The royal expert further noted that the Wales family may have chosen to prioritize other matters, such as supporting a family member undergoing chemotherapy, over releasing a birthday photo. Historically, the couple has released a photo on the eve of each of their children’s birthdays, including Louis’. However, this year marks a departure from that practice.
