In a significant address at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) national meet, General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale underscored the paramount importance of ‘Hindu unity’ to counter divisive forces within society. His statement echoed the sentiment expressed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘batengey toh katengey’ (divided we fall) slogan, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also embraced. Hosabale asserted that discrimination based on language, state, or caste could lead to societal decay, urging for unity among Hindus to prevent such fragmentation. He emphasized that forgetting Hindu values could lead to disaster, highlighting the significance of social cohesion.
Addressing the ongoing Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute, Hosabale stated that the matter is currently before the courts, urging the public to have faith in the judiciary. He acknowledged the public awakening within the Hindu community on this issue and affirmed the RSS’s solidarity with its members.
Regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, he explained that concerns extend beyond the Hindu community, as many within the Muslim community have also expressed apprehensions about the Bill’s implications. He asserted that these communities are troubled by the excesses, exploitation, and injustice associated with the Waqf.
Discussing the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Hosabale mentioned a recent meeting between Adityanath and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat. The chief minister expressed his aim to make this year’s Kumbh more meaningful and successful than previous iterations, sharing his plans with RSS officials. Hosabale’s call for Hindu unity reflects a broader theme of social cohesion that has gained prominence in recent political discourse, with leaders emphasizing the need for unity to counter division and build a stronger nation.
