Runes in No Rest For The Wicked
Runes are special skills or powers in No Rest For The Wicked that can be equipped to weapons to enhance combat capabilities. They vary in function and can be obtained from chests or purchased from Eleanor the enchanter in Sacrament, the main town in the game.
How to Get Runes
–
Chests:
Runes can be found in chests scattered throughout the map, but loot is randomized, so it’s largely based on luck.–
Eleanor the Enchanter:
Eleanor sells Runes in her shop in the Merchant square in Sacrament.Infusing Runes
Once you have acquired a Rune, you can infuse it into a weapon by selecting the Rune option in Eleanor’s menu. Select the desired weapon and insert the Rune into an available slot. Runes can also be extracted from weapons, allowing you to infuse them into another weapon. However, this will destroy the weapon the Rune was originally in.
Using Runes
In combat, press the number key corresponding to the Rune you wish to cast. A white ring will appear around the currently equipped Rune in the bottom left corner of the screen. Right-click to activate the Rune. Some Runes may require holding the right-click button to charge up.
Enhancing Weapons with Runes
Most weapons can hold up to four Runes, which can be assigned to number keys. Runes can also be applied to your offhand by pressing the ‘R’ key.
Repair Rune
The ‘Repair’ Rune is particularly useful for keeping gear intact without frequent trips to a blacksmith. Consider equipping a secondary weapon with utility Runes like ‘Repair’ to swap to when needed.
Enchanting Weapons
From Eleanor’s menu, you can also Enchant weapons and armor, which will reset all Runes and Gems attached to them. This process increases the item’s rarity, potentially transforming Common gear into Rare or Plagued items. However, Plagued items have random negative effects. Unique weapons and armor can only be acquired through boss fights.
