Several schools in Delhi-NCR received bomb threat emails on [date], sparking panic and leading to closures. The emails were reportedly sent from a single IP address in Russia, using the ‘mail.ru’ domain. The threat letters claimed that explosive devices had been planted in various schools and urged violence against students.
The Delhi Police’s cyber team has launched an investigation to trace the IP address and identify the sender. The team believes the sender used a VPN connection to mask their original IP address.
Delhi Lt Governor V.K. Saxena visited one of the affected schools and assured that the culprits would face strict punishment. He stated that the Delhi Police had identified the origin of the emails and were investigating the case.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has classified the threat as a hoax and advised against panic. However, Ravinder Yadav, Special CP of the Delhi Police Crime Branch, emphasized that authorities would not take any chances and would conduct a thorough investigation.
The bomb threat has raised concerns about the safety of schools and the need for enhanced security measures. The incident highlights the growing threat of cybercrime and the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies to combat such threats.
