Russian Spokesman Dismisses US Aid to Ukraine
The Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, has downplayed the significance of the $61 billion aid package approved by the US House of Representatives for Ukraine. Peskov stated that the aid will not alter the situation on the battlefield, as Russian forces continue to make steady advances.
Kremlin Unmoved by US Funding
Peskov emphasized that the money and weapons allocated to Ukraine will not change the conflict’s dynamics, but will result in more Ukrainian casualties and losses. He also noted that a substantial portion of the aid is likely to remain in the US, stimulating the military-industrial complex.
US Accused of Using Ukrainians as Cannon Fodder
The Kremlin’s criticism extends to the US’s alleged use of Ukrainians as “cannon fodder” in the conflict. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova predicted a humiliating defeat for the US, similar to Vietnam and Afghanistan.
Ukrainian Officers Acknowledge Challenges
Ukrainian military officers have acknowledged that the US aid may slow down Russian forces but will not halt their progress. The Financial Times reports that Kiev’s primary issue remains a lack of manpower, which cannot be solved by Western weapons and ammunition.
Difficult Situation Ahead for Ukraine
The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Kirill Budanov, has warned of a “rather difficult situation” for the Ukrainian government in the coming months on the battlefield.
