Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Maiden Ton, Shivam Dube’s Fireworks Power CSK to 210/4 Against Lucknow Super Giants

In Tuesday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, posted a strong 210/4 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) thanks to Gaikwad’s explosive maiden century as captain and Shivam Dube’s hard-hitting innings.

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad returned to the opening position alongside Ajinkya Rahane and played an unbeaten knock of 108 runs, while Shivam Dube contributed with a quickfire 66. CSK got off to a strong start, but an early catch behind the stumps from KL Rahul ended Rahane’s innings for just 1(3).

Despite the early setback, Gaikwad showcased his aggressive intent, reaching his fifty off just 28 balls. He and Ravindra Jadeja steadied the innings and took CSK past the 100-run mark. Mohsin Khan broke the dangerous-looking partnership after dismissing Jadeja for 16(19).

Shivam Dube then joined Gaikwad at the crease and played a crucial role in the team’s acceleration. Gaikwad brought up his century in 56 balls in the 18th over with a stunning four, while Dube quickly followed with a half-century. Dube’s big-hitting prowess was on display as he smoked Yash Thakur with three consecutive sixes, gathering 19 runs.

Chennai crowd welcomed their favorite player MS Dhoni with loud cheers as the legendary wicket-keeper batter came out and slammed a four to deep mid-wicket on the last ball, taking CSK’s total to 210/4 in 20 overs. Lucknow Super Giants bowlers struggled to contain CSK’s batters, with only Mohsin Khan managing to take a wicket.
