The event’s official opening at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) witnessed a strong presence from both states, with Sabah showcasing its attractions through 60 booths featuring travel agents, artisans, and industry partners.
Datuk Christina Liew, Sabah’s State Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister, emphasized the importance of promoting Borneo as a top destination for travelers. She highlighted the Sabah Tourism Board’s (STB) commitment to delivering authentic experiences, offering exclusive deals like travel rebates of up to RM150 on Sabah travel packages. A “Kopitiam-themed” section at the Sabah Zone offered visitors a taste of Sabah’s hospitality with traditional delicacies, Tenom coffee, and Sabah tea.

She emphasized that tourism goes beyond destinations, focusing on building connections and creating lasting memories. Sabah, she said, offers an integrated experience, combining the majestic peaks of Mount Kinabalu with the vibrant marine life of its oceans.
