This marks one of the most severe dust storm events to impact the nation since 2018. The yellow-orange haze has enveloped numerous regions, obstructing visibility and prompting health advisories due to potential respiratory risks. Experts predict that the skies will begin to clear on Wednesday as winds shift to disperse the dust, leading to a decrease in temperatures. Authorities have emphasized that the concentrations of dust can diminish sunlight and reduce visibility, while also increasing the levels of fine particulate matter in the air. This situation poses potential health hazards for individuals with underlying respiratory conditions. Greece has previously experienced similar dust storms from the Sahara in late March and early April, which also affected certain parts of Switzerland and southern France.
