R. Sai Kishore, the left-arm spinner, has made it clear that he is laser-focused on honing his red-ball skills. He believes that this dedication will put him in the best position to grab any chances that come his way. And his ambition is backed by impressive performances on the field. He was the highest wicket-taker in the previous Ranji Trophy, claiming an impressive 53 scalps. This season, he has continued his strong form, bagging 14 wickets in the Buchi Babu Tournament. These numbers demonstrate that Sai Kishore is not just a flash in the pan.
He is confident in his abilities and sees himself as a valuable asset to the team. “If I am ready for something, the opportunity will come my way. In terms of confidence, I think that I am ready. I consider myself a tool, the tool is doing its best to be ready. If there is an opportunity somewhere, they could call me,” he said after the third day’s play against Mumbai.
The Tamil Nadu player is set to play a significant role for India B in the upcoming Duleep Trophy, especially with fellow left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja not participating in the competition.
Sai Kishore chose to compete in the Buchi Babu Tournament before the more demanding assignments ahead, and he is happy with his decision. He had the option of attending a spinners camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, but he felt that the Buchi Babu offered a better preparation. He said, “There was an option to go to the NCA in Bengaluru for a spinners camp. I felt ‘if I cannot handle the pressure in Buchi Babu, how will I handle it in Duleep Trophy’. So, I looked at Buchi Babu as a good preparation. No practice is equal to playing a match. Luckily, it has panned out very well.”
