Saint John Police have apprehended a 37-year-old male in connection with an alleged aggravated assault and forcible confinement that transpired at a local encampment. According to a statement issued by Saint John Police, a 42-year-old man was purportedly subjected to assault and held captive for two days within an encampment situated in the 100 block area of Broadview Avenue. Emergency responders discovered the victim inside the encampment on Friday and subsequently transported him to a hospital, where he received medical attention for injuries that were not life-threatening. Following his arrest, the accused was remanded to jail and is scheduled to appear before the court on May 28th.
