Sam Hou Fai, a leading candidate for the position of Chief Executive of Macau, has committed to prioritizing the city’s economic well-being. During a meeting with business leaders on Monday, Mr. Hou Fai emphasized his dedication to fostering a more conducive business environment, revitalizing the tourism and leisure sectors, and driving economic diversification. This commitment was highlighted in a statement released by his campaign office.
Participants from Macau’s industrial and commercial sectors, representing Central, North, and South districts, presented innovative proposals aimed at supporting local businesses. They advocated for the development of new tourist attractions in older parts of the city, recognizing the potential to stimulate small and medium-sized enterprises currently facing challenges.
Additionally, they suggested the implementation of incentive programs to invigorate community economies, accelerate economic recovery, and secure Macau’s long-term sustainability. Furthermore, they proposed the creation of a specialized entity tasked with monitoring and analyzing the economic progress of neighborhood communities.
Mr. Hou Fai welcomed these ideas with gratitude, acknowledging the importance of building support across diverse sectors and among members of the 400-member Election Committee. He has already secured enough backing to officially enter the race for Chief Executive. The nomination period for the October 13 election remains open until September 12.
