A recently discovered render, purportedly of the unreleased Samsung Galaxy Buds 3, hints at a significant comfort improvement for users who have struggled to find a good fit with previous Samsung earbuds. The render, obtained from a product page on the Korean retailer Coupang, showcases a charging case sleeve designed by Elago. This sleeve reveals a completely redesigned Samsung Galaxy Buds 3, bearing a striking resemblance to Apple’s AirPods Pro. The product page has since been removed from Coupang, adding credence to the authenticity of the images.
The leaked earbuds feature a stem-based design, a first for Samsung. This design, similar to the AirPods Pro, includes vents and microphone covers positioned in almost identical locations. Even the charging case takes inspiration from Apple’s design, with a transparent plastic flip-top lid adding a Samsung twist.
Stem-based wireless earbuds are renowned for their comfortable fit, as they allow engineers to place critical components like batteries, touch controls, and microphones outside the main body of the earbud. This minimizes the space occupied within the ear itself. While we’ve reviewed virtually all of Samsung’s wireless earbuds, including the Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Buds+, Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, and Galaxy Buds FE, we found their comfort to be generally satisfactory. However, numerous users have expressed difficulty in achieving a comfortable and secure fit with their Samsung Galaxy earbuds, as evidenced by Reddit discussions.
While AirPods Pro owners also experience discomfort at times, a stem-based design for the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 (if true) would provide customers with a previously unavailable choice. For users who prefer the fit of a stem-based earbud, Samsung might soon have a way to retain them within the Galaxy ecosystem.
