Eight months after launching the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra, Samsung has unveiled a fourth member of the S24 family: the Galaxy S24 FE. Short for ‘Fan Edition,’ the FE series provides a more budget-friendly alternative to the flagship models. The S24 FE comes in at £649, a £150 discount compared to the standard S24, while still sporting a generous 6.7-inch display, similar to the S24 Plus.
While the S24 FE shares the large screen size with the S24 Plus, it does make some concessions to reach its lower price point. The display’s power efficiency is slightly reduced compared to the flagship S24 models, and it utilizes the Exynos 2400e chipset instead of the top-tier Exynos 2400 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The design also deviates slightly, with a thicker build and a more straightforward look featuring a flat glass back and flat aluminum sides.
Despite these cost-cutting measures, the S24 FE still boasts an impressive triple camera setup, featuring a 50MP main camera sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP 3x optical telephoto lens. A generous 4,700mAh battery ensures ample power for a full day of use, and perhaps even into the next day. The S24 FE comes in four color options: blue, graphite, mint, and yellow.
No phone released in 2024 would be complete without AI integration, and the S24 FE is no exception. Samsung’s Galaxy AI takes center stage, offering a variety of helpful tools, such as Circle to Search, which lets you search images directly from your phone screen using Google. You’ll also find generative AI capabilities for manipulating images, a language interpreter for translation, a composer to modify the tone of your texts, and more. Of course, you have the option to opt out of these features if you prefer.
One significant benefit of the S24 FE is its extended software support: seven years of updates. This means with proper care and potentially a battery replacement down the road, you could use this phone until 2031 while still receiving the latest software and security updates. The S24 FE ships with Android 14 pre-installed and has the potential to receive updates up to Android 21.
The S24 FE is available for purchase now on Samsung’s UK website, starting at £649 for the 128GB storage option. For £50 more, you can upgrade to the 256GB storage version for £699.
