Samsung’s Galaxy S24 FE has only recently launched, but whispers about its successor, the Galaxy S25 FE, are already circulating. According to Korean outlet The Elec, citing supply chain reports, the Galaxy S25 FE will stick with the 6.7-inch display size introduced in its predecessor. However, the device is rumored to take a drastic turn towards a slimmer design.
To achieve this, Samsung is reportedly considering shrinking the battery capacity while increasing its surface area. This move echoes similar trends seen in the foldable phone segment, where manufacturers are pushing for thinner designs.
The pursuit of slimness is not a new concept in the smartphone industry. Back in 2014, the Vivo V5 Max emerged as the world’s slimmest phone with a thickness of just 4.75mm. However, the demand for more powerful features like better cameras, larger batteries, and wireless charging eventually shifted the focus away from thinness.
Despite the return to larger and thicker phones, manufacturers are still exploring ways to slim down their devices. The rumored “iPhone 17 Air,” for instance, is said to take advantage of Apple’s battery advancements showcased in the iPhone 16 Pro.
As for the Galaxy S25 FE, its future is still uncertain. Plans could change as Samsung continues testing and validating prototype units.
Meanwhile, a recent leak suggests MediaTek has secured a deal to power the Galaxy S25 FE with its Dimensity 9400 SoC. The remaining Galaxy S25 models, however, are expected to exclusively feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, which will also power other flagship Android devices like the OnePlus 13 in 2025.
While these are just rumors and speculation, the potential slim design and new chipsets for the Galaxy S25 FE certainly add to the anticipation surrounding Samsung’s upcoming phone.
