The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is still months away from its anticipated launch, likely sometime between January and February of next year. However, recent rumors suggest a potential shakeup to the lineup, with the Galaxy S25 Plus model possibly being omitted, leaving just the regular S25 and S25 Ultra. This speculation arises from an examination of the IMEI database by Android Headlines, which found no listing for an S25 Plus model. They point to the presence of model numbers for the S25 (SMS931B/DS) and S25 Ultra (SM-S938B, SM-S938U, SM-S938N, and SM-S9380). The absence of the Plus model in the database has led some to believe Samsung might be streamlining its S-series lineup.
However, drawing conclusions from the IMEI database at this early stage might be premature. There are numerous reasons why a model might not be listed in the database yet, and it’s possible the S25 Plus is still in development. In fact, sources like Galaxy Club confirm that the S25 Plus is indeed still under development, with Samsung utilizing code names F1, F2, and F3 for the base, Plus, and Ultra models respectively. Therefore, it’s still too early to rule out the S25 Plus entirely.
Adding to the intrigue, other rumors suggest potential changes to the S25 series’ camera sensors and even a possible switch away from Qualcomm processors to either MediaTek chips or a combination of MediaTek, Exynos, and Qualcomm. However, reliable tipster Ming-Chi Kuo has refuted this latter rumor, stating that Samsung will be sticking with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for the S25 and that Qualcomm will remain the sole supplier.
With so much speculation swirling around the Galaxy S25, it’s important to remember that we’re still very early in the rumor cycle. More concrete information and less conflicting rumors are expected to surface in the coming months as we inch closer to the official launch date.
