The unveiling of the iPhone 16 series has shifted the spotlight onto Samsung’s next flagship smartphone lineup, the Galaxy S25. As if on cue, Android Headlines has provided us with the first glimpse of the redesigned Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, a phone eagerly anticipated for a January or February launch.
This early look reveals some striking design modifications. Perhaps the most notable change is the adoption of flat sides across all four edges of the phone. This marks a departure from the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which featured flat sides at the top and bottom but retained slightly rounded edges on the other two sides. This design trend, mirroring the flat-sided iPhones, is noteworthy given Google’s recent implementation of a similar design on the Pixel 9.
Beyond the flat sides, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to embrace a lighter design philosophy, a welcome departure from its predecessor’s weight. With an anticipated weight of just 219 grams, it would significantly undercut both the Galaxy S24 Ultra (232 grams) and the iPhone 16 Pro Max (227 grams). The quest for lightness is further underscored by the rumored reduction in dimensions and bezels, all while maintaining the same 6.8-inch screen size.
The camera system is set to receive an upgrade, featuring a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 200MP primary camera, and a 10MP 3x telephoto camera. Powering this technological marvel will be the yet-to-be-officially-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, which Qualcomm is expected to unveil at next month’s Snapdragon Summit.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra will also retain its familiar 5,000mAh battery. As we move closer to the official announcement, we can expect to hear more about the entire Galaxy S25 series. Following past patterns, Samsung is likely to unveil the series early in the new year, with subsequent releases soon after. Like its predecessors, the Galaxy S25 lineup is anticipated to include three models: the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and the previously mentioned Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, there’s an intriguing twist: some rumors suggest Samsung might reintroduce a familiar name and call the top-tier model the “Galaxy S25 Note.”
