Samsung’s Nifty Laundry Room Device Captures Microplastic Fibers

Samsung is known for its innovative products, and its latest offering is no exception. The Less Microfibre Filter is a pint-sized external washing machine filter designed to capture microplastic fibers released during a standard laundry wash cycle. These tiny fibers can be harmful to the environment, so the Less Microfibre Filter is a great way to reduce your impact on the planet.

The Less Microfibre Filter is designed to be used with select Samsung front load washing machines. It simply sits on or next to your washing machine and does its magic. The filter’s blades help capture up to 98% of microfibers, then redirect and compress these fibers to one side. This means that the filter only needs to be cleaned after every 30 uses, and the microfibers can be easily removed.

The captured microfibers should be appropriately discarded as general waste and not washed away with water. By connecting with Samsung’s SmartThings app, the Less Microfibre Filter can track how full it is from 0 to 100%, alerting users via the SmartThings app when cleaning or other troubleshooting is required.

The Less Microfibre Filter is available to purchase from Samsung’s website as well as Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi. It’s a great way to reduce your environmental impact and keep your clothes looking their best.
