Get ready to take flight, San Francisco! San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is all decked out and ready to welcome a wave of holiday travelers. With new amenities, exciting new destinations, and improved services, SFO is setting the stage for a smooth and enjoyable travel experience this holiday season.
The airport is expecting a whopping 15% increase in holiday traffic compared to last year, with an estimated 6.3 million travelers passing through its gates between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. That’s a lot of holiday cheer in the air! To make sure everyone enjoys a seamless journey, SFO is urging travelers to arrive early – at least two hours before domestic departures and three hours for international flights.
With high parking demand anticipated, SFO encourages travelers to consider public transit or rideshare options. If you’re planning to drive, book your parking spot in advance through SFO’s online system. You can even pre-pay, making the process even more convenient.
In a move to streamline the check-in process, SFO is launching a new remote baggage check-in service at its Long-Term Parking garage and Rental Car Center. This complimentary service allows travelers to check their bags and receive boarding passes before heading to the security checkpoints. While the service is free, standard airline baggage fees still apply.
Speaking of smooth transitions, SFO’s recent completion of Harvey Milk Terminal 1 means that travelers now have seamless post-security connections between all terminals. And, with the Terminal 3 West Modernization project underway, an interim corridor in Terminal 3 also provides convenient connections.
Get ready to explore new horizons this holiday season! SFO has added exciting new routes to its network. Travelers can now soar to Seoul with Air Premia, experience the beauty of Palm Springs and Vail with Frontier Airlines, and explore Central America with United Airlines’ new flights to Monterrey, Belize, and Costa Rica. Alaska Airlines is also joining the party, offering flights to Costa Rica.
To further enhance the festive spirit, SFO will be hosting live music performances throughout the terminals, featuring talented Bay Area artists. So, get ready to be serenaded by holiday tunes as you embark on your festive travels!
With its new amenities, expanded destinations, and enhanced services, SFO is primed for a truly memorable holiday travel season. Happy Holidays, San Francisco!
