The San Francisco Travel Association, the official destination marketing organization for the City and County of San Francisco, has announced the appointment of Anna Marie Presutti as its new President and CEO, effective immediately. Presutti, who has served as the association’s interim president and CEO since mid-May, will lead one of the nation’s oldest and largest membership-based tourism organizations.
San Francisco Travel plays a crucial role in promoting the city globally, attracting conventions, meetings, and leisure travelers. Tourism is a key industry in San Francisco, contributing significantly to the city’s economy. In 2023, visitor spending reached a remarkable $9.3 billion, generating nearly $610 million in tax revenues.
John Anderson, Chair of the San Francisco Travel Board, expressed his confidence in Presutti’s appointment. “After a nationwide search, we found that the best candidate was already in the role,” Anderson stated. “Anna Marie is a dedicated advocate for San Francisco and an experienced leader. As a two-time SF Travel Board Chair, she’s well-acquainted with the organization, its culture, and customers. Her leadership will continue to drive the promotion of this incredible destination.”
Presutti, a veteran of San Francisco’s tourism industry with over two decades of experience, expressed her enthusiasm for the new role. “I’m passionate about this city and excited for the opportunities ahead,” she said. “As we move forward from challenging times, my focus will be on restoring the convention business to healthy levels, while also promoting the city’s strengths, such as its vibrant culinary scene and rich arts and culture. We’ll work closely with organizations like the Bay Area Host Committee to bring more world-class events to San Francisco.”
Presutti’s journey to the CEO position is a testament to her dedication and experience. Before her appointment, she served as Vice President and General Manager of Hotel Nikko San Francisco, where she made history in 2006 as the first female vice-president for Tokyo-based Nikko Hotels International. She is also the first woman to hold the CEO position at San Francisco Travel.
Presutti’s career boasts leadership roles with prestigious hospitality companies such as Kimpton Hotels, ITT Sheraton, Hilton Hotels, and Sunstone Hotel Properties. She currently serves on the boards of the U.S. Travel Association and the Hotel Council of San Francisco, as well as on the Okura Nikko Management Company and Missouri State University Foundation. Her extensive experience and leadership skills make her an ideal candidate to lead San Francisco Travel into the future.
