Saudi Arabia to Build 92,000-Capacity Stadium for 2034 World Cup Bid

Saudi Arabia has announced its intention to build a state-of-the-art stadium in Riyadh with a capacity of 92,000. This ambitious project is part of the kingdom’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup. The Saudi sports ministry has unveiled the approved design for the stadium, which is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2029. This new facility, named after King Salman, will serve as the main base for the Saudi national team and will be a central part of a larger sports complex. The complex will also include an indoor sports hall, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and other facilities.

The design for the stadium was chosen from various submissions by six international companies, ensuring adherence to FIFA requirements, sustainability standards, and architectural excellence. Saudi Arabia formally launched its campaign to host the 2034 World Cup back in March. As no other country has expressed interest in hosting the tournament before FIFA’s deadline, Saudi Arabia is the sole contender, making its bid a strong contender for success. This significant investment in infrastructure demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to elevating its status as a major player in the global sporting landscape.
