On Wednesday, April 23, Savannah Kotb, co-host of the renowned morning show ‘Today,’ shared an amusing yet painful reason behind her choice of footwear. Kotb appeared in tennis shoes, prompting her co-host to inquire about her unusual shoe choice.
Kotb, 59, revealed that she opted for comfortable shoes due to an unfortunate incident on the New York City subway. While rushing to another subway car, she jammed her toe severely. Despite the pain, Kotb continued with her day, neglecting to address her injury.
Upon returning home, Kotb realized the need to bandage her toe but was unable to locate any medical tape. Resorting to what she had on hand, she used Scotch tape instead. Her co-hosts were astounded by her unconventional approach to first aid.
Kotb explained that she searched her home thoroughly for medical tape but only found Scotch tape. She also mentioned that her children had an abundance of colored tape but could not locate a single roll.
Kotb’s injury is not the first mishap to befall the ‘Today’ show hosts. Earlier this month, third hour co-host Sheinelle Jones disclosed that she had sustained injuries while running errands. Jones fell on her face in New York City, resulting in bruised knees.
Despite the setbacks, Kotb and Jones continue to bring humor and lightheartedness to the ‘Today’ show. Both hosts have recently celebrated their birthdays, with Kotb turning 59 and Jones turning 46. The show has also marked significant milestones, including its fifth anniversary special in New Orleans and a special tribute on April 8, complete with an original song, Empire State Building illumination, and a mayoral proclamation.
Kotb expressed her gratitude for her co-host and the support she has received from the show’s team, stating, “Every day, it’s something different, something new, something we’re learning.” She credits Jones for introducing her to valuable individuals who have helped her grow and heal.
