BOULDER, Colo., Aug. 21, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Scout Clean Energy, a prominent national renewable energy developer-owner-operator, has announced the appointment of Kris Cheney as Chief Development Officer. Cheney’s extensive experience in the renewable energy sector, spanning over a decade, will significantly enhance Scout’s development capabilities as it continues its robust growth trajectory.
Cheney joins Scout from EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA), where he served for 15 years, most recently as Executive Vice President of West, Central, and Environmental Affairs. During his tenure at EDPR NA, Cheney played a crucial role in scaling the company from 200 employees to over 1,000, overseeing the development of a substantial 25 GW pipeline of renewable energy projects. His impressive track record includes the development and execution of 3,500 MW of projects, representing a total capital investment of $3.5 billion, across various regions including SPP, ERCOT, MISO, WECC, and Mexico. These projects are either already in commercial operation or expected to be operational by the end of 2025.
“We are delighted to welcome a leader of Kris’s caliber to our team,” said Michael Rucker, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Scout. “Kris’s deep expertise in building renewable energy projects, combined with his proven success in navigating rapid growth and scaling operations, aligns perfectly with Scout’s current growth path. His leadership will be instrumental in executing our ambitious 19 GW pipeline and accelerating the transition to a clean energy future.”
“I am thrilled to join Scout during this exciting period of growth and innovation,” said Cheney. “The company’s commitment to developing and operating renewable energy projects, coupled with its exceptional team and culture, makes this an ideal opportunity. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of Scout and playing a key role in maturing its impressive pipeline of renewable projects.”
