It all started in March when a couple stumbled upon a secret room in their home, prompting them to call the police due to the eerie feeling it evoked. However, this is not an isolated incident, as a TikToking couple, Trevor and Hayley, experienced a similar discovery during a home renovation project in April. While attempting to remove a misplaced jacuzzi from their living room floor, they uncovered a potentially larger issue. After some personal investigation, they discovered a manhole leading 20 feet below their living room floor. This manhole is connected to Lake Huron, an open body of water in Michigan, through a 6-foot pipe, as Hayley revealed in their viral TikTok video. Although the manhole does not leak water into the couple’s home, they have shared their plans for utilizing the additional space. “We are going to keep exploring it and if possible we will drain it and maybe create a game room or bowling alley lane down there,” Hayley stated. Hayley also shared that people who learned about the manhole have offered various theories regarding its origin. “The wildest theory we’ve heard is that it was used in the prohibition days to smuggle alcohol over from Canada since it’s so close,” Hayley said. Despite facing challenges in removing the water from the space, only time will tell if Hayley and Trevor’s ambitious plans for the manhole will materialize, bringing their secret room to life.
