Section 144 Imposed in Telangana After Clash Over Cow Transport

A clash erupted between two communities in Medak district, Telangana, on Saturday over the alleged illegal transport of cows. This led to the imposition of Section 144 near Ramdas Chowrasta, prohibiting gatherings of four or more people. The measure was implemented to prevent further violence and riots.

According to Medak Superintendent of Police Office B Bala Swamy, the situation is under control, with several individuals taken into custody. An investigation is underway, and cases are being registered against both parties involved in the clash. The scuffle began when Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leaders stopped the transportation of cows. Instead of filing a complaint, they staged a protest, leading to injuries to two individuals. Both sides then engaged in protests on the road, and the hospital treating the injured was also attacked.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad police have heightened security measures ahead of Eid al-Adha celebrations on Monday. South Zone DCP Sneha Mehra urged the public to adhere to government guidelines for a safe and clean celebration. She emphasized the importance of proper disposal of animal waste after sacrifices to prevent the spread of diseases.

Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakra Eid, is a significant religious occasion celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It marks the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage and is often referred to as the ‘festival of sacrifice.’
