Following the tragic killing of former minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique on Saturday evening, security measures have been intensified outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Visuals from the scene show security personnel stationed outside the Galaxy Apartment, where Khan resides. The heightened security is a direct response to the unsettling incident, which has left the city shaken.
Siddique, a prominent figure in the Nationalist Congress Party and a former Maharashtra minister, was shot near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Salman Khan visited the hospital that night to offer his condolences and express his support to Siddique’s family.
The Mumbai Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder, identified as Gurmail Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh. Police investigations have revealed shocking details about their planning and execution of the crime. Gurmail Singh’s grandmother has stated that he was in jail for four years before being released on bail.
This incident comes months after a similar security scare involving Salman Khan. On April 14, two men on a motorcycle opened fire outside his Bandra residence. The assailants, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, were subsequently arrested in Gujarat.
The murder of Baba Siddique has sparked widespread concern and questions about law and order in Maharashtra. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand highlighted the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the alarming implications for the safety of ordinary citizens. He pointed to the previous shooting incident at Salman Khan’s residence and Siddique’s earlier concerns about his safety, suggesting a possible larger conspiracy.
The Mumbai Police have registered a case at the Nirmal Nagar Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act, and Maharashtra Police Act. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Siddique would be cremated with full state honours, recognizing his contributions as a minister and chairman of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar assured the public that the police have arrested two suspects and are actively pursuing the investigation. Five teams have been deployed to gather evidence and apprehend any remaining individuals involved. The CM and Home Minister are closely monitoring the situation, and authorities have pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice. With investigations ongoing, the city awaits further updates and developments in this shocking case.
