Seedhe Maut, the renowned hip-hop duo from New Delhi, has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade, amassing a dedicated fan base across the nation. Their journey began with albums like “Bayaan” and “Nayaab,” which captured their experiences growing up in middle-class India and pursuing their artistic aspirations. They further expanded their horizons with mixtapes such as “न” and their latest release, “Lunch Break,” exploring a wider range of themes and collaborations. Through meticulous efforts, rappers Encore ABJ, aka Abhijay Negi, and Calm, aka Siddhant Sharma, have cultivated a solid following in various cities, enabling them to transition from club performances to grand outdoor shows. “We’ve always aspired to fill stadiums. Club shows are an integral part of our journey, but our ultimate goal is to grace the largest stages possible,” the duo expressed in an interview. Seedhe Maut’s success has culminated in the launch of their own label, dL91. Teasing their upcoming album, “Kavi Kehna Chahte Hai,” they emphasize that they are still “on a lunch break.” Their Lunch Break tour, which includes a stop in Bengaluru on April 27th, serves as a celebration of their latest mixtape. Featuring some of ABJ and Calm’s most compelling lyrics and performances, the album boasts collaborations with renowned rap artists such as Badshah, KR$NA, and Sikander Kahlon. Reflecting on the tour’s progress, Encore ABJ remarked, “It has surpassed our expectations. We’ve performed in several cities where we’ve never played before, drawing some of our largest crowds. This is our first self-produced tour under dL91, and we’re committed to delivering a memorable experience.” Curating a setlist from their 30-track mixtape, “Lunch Break,” for each stop on their 13-city tour presents a delightful challenge. Calm explains, “We craft our songs with live performances in mind. Having 30 tracks to select from, depending on the city and our mood, is both a privilege and a conundrum.” Despite a previous commitment that fell through at the last moment, Seedhe Maut is eager to return to Bengaluru. “Bengaluru holds a special place in our hearts. The audience there is incredibly passionate about music, and the city has consistently shown us tremendous support. This is poised to be our biggest show in Bengaluru yet, and we can’t wait to reunite with our fans,” the duo expressed. Seedhe Maut’s legacy and influence in Indian hip-hop have reached a stage where they are inspiring the next generation of Hindi rappers. Their advice for aspiring artists is simple: “Stay true to yourself and your music.” As for their plans in 2024, Seedhe Maut is diligently working on their upcoming album, “Kavi Kehna Chahte Hai.” “The project is taking shape and promises to be a significant undertaking. However, we’re still on a Lunch Break, so stay tuned for more updates on ‘Kavi’ soon!” Seedhe Maut is set to perform on April 27th at Forum South Bengaluru, Konanakunte Cross. Tickets are available on Zomato Live.
