He stated, “I’m focused on doing everything I possibly can over the next 77 days to make sure that Tim Walz and Kamala Harris are successful on November 5th. That’s my goal.”
Kelly’s background as a veteran makes him a strong contender for the Secretary of Defense position. His experience as a senator from a border state, along with his vocal concerns about illegal immigration, also make him a potential candidate for Secretary of Homeland Security.
During his interview, Kelly also criticized former President Donald Trump’s alleged disparaging remarks about military personnel, emphasizing the importance of respecting veterans and service members. “Do you expect somebody, Donald Trump to really care about military families when he doesn’t even care about the service members that have put their lives on the line and regard them as suckers and losers?” he asked. “Of course you wouldn’t.”
Kelly expressed confidence in Harris’s ability to lead the country, highlighting her commitment to modernizing the military and ensuring the success of American service members. He praised the energy surrounding Harris at the DNC, stating, “Arizona is often thought of as sort of a red state, but I’ve never seen any energy like this before in that arena.” He predicted an even larger outpouring of support for Harris in the months leading up to the election.
