The Seoul International Travel Fair, held at COEX in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul, commenced on Thursday to showcase the tourism potential of destinations worldwide. The event aims to diversify tourist demographics and address the rising interest from travelers. Hafsa H. Mbamba, CEO of the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism, highlighted Tanzania’s pristine beaches, mountaineering, and safari tours, catering to adventurous Korean travelers seeking unique experiences. She emphasized the growing interest in Mount Kilimanjaro but noted the need to raise awareness about Zanzibar’s offerings and connectivity with other attractions in Tanzania. Mohamed Younes, Director of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, acknowledged the mutual interest in each other’s culture between South Koreans and Egyptians. Egypt aims to promote golf tourism and offer cost-effective destinations, while also showcasing its ancient wonders and modern attractions. Over 300 companies have set up stalls across 500 booths, with some offering musical performances. The fair, which runs through Sunday, seeks to capture the attention of Korean travelers and present them with a range of exciting destinations.
