“Setting sprays are meant to make the skin look like skin,” she stated. “These products are meant to just hydrate the skin to rapidly oxidize the skin. They’re not waterproof. They’re not water resistant. They’re not sweat proof.”
Instead, Lumpkin advocates for the use of fixing sprays. These alcohol-based sprays are formulated with ingredients like butane and magnesium carbonate, which effectively absorb oils and help set makeup for a longer duration.
“Fixing spray is going to be alcohol-based. It’s going to have ingredients in it like butane, and magnesium carbonate. What it does is, basically, it just absorbs all the oils,” she explained.
Lumpkin recommends the Until Dawn spray from One Size, which is reportedly a favorite of Beyoncé. This spray is available from Sephora UK for £30.
