In Maharashtra, seven individuals have been arrested for allegedly murdering a 38-year-old man due to an ongoing feud. The incident took place on Monday night as the victim, Rohit alias Golu Hariprasad Tiwari, was riding his two-wheeler towards Kalyan. The accused, who were riding two motorcycles, followed him with one of them allegedly opening fire at Tiwari, piercing his chest with the bullet. Tiwari was rushed to the hospital by his brother and others but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother, the police registered a case and arrested the seven accused. They have been booked under section 302 (murder) and other relevant provisions.
In a separate case, a 61-year-old murder accused who had been on the run for 34 years has been arrested from Maharashtra’s Thane district. Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap and apprehended the accused, Jahangir Dinmohammad Sheikh, from the western suburb of Andheri in neighboring Mumbai on Monday evening.
The accused was involved in a murder that took place in Mira Road in December 1990. Sheikh is one of the six accused involved in stabbing and killing the victim, Gabrial alias Sudhakar Kristan Amanna (22), during a party. The police had earlier arrested five accused in the case while Sheikh had remained absconding since.
