The highly anticipated second season of ‘Severance,’ the acclaimed psychological thriller series on Apple TV Plus, has finally wrapped up filming. The news was shared by costume designer Carol Deelay on her Instagram story, where she posted a photo of a clapperboard with the caption ‘It’s a wrap on season 2.’
‘Severance’ was renewed for a second season in April 2022, just two days before the release of the season 1 finale. Filming kicked off six months later in October, but was unfortunately halted in May 2023 due to widespread production delays within the industry.
The series, starring Adam Scott as the enigmatic Mark, follows a group of ‘severed’ employees at Lumon Industries. Severance is a procedure that allows employees to separate their work selves, including their memories, from their non-work selves. As Mark and his Macrodata Refinement colleagues (played by Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, and John Turturro) begin to question their employer’s motives, they uncover a complex web of conspiracies.
The first season of ‘Severance’ was a critical and commercial success, earning three Golden Globe nominations and six Emmy nominations. It also topped our list of the best shows of the year.
Details about the plot of season 2 are still under wraps, but we can expect plenty of new characters to join the mix. Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, Merritt Wever, and Bob Balaban are among the new cast members who will be appearing in the upcoming season.
