Hours after reports of a death threat against Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan surfaced, a surprising twist emerged. The phone number from which the threat call was allegedly made was traced back to a resident of Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. However, the owner of the phone number claimed to have lost his phone on November 2nd and had filed a police complaint about the incident at a local police station in Raipur the same day.
The individual, speaking to CNN News18, stated that someone must have misused his lost phone to make the threatening call. He confirmed that Mumbai police had contacted him, and he had informed them about the loss of his phone and the subsequent police complaint.
The threat call, received by Mumbai Police around 8 am on November 5th, was made by a caller who identified himself as ‘Hindustani’. He claimed to be standing outside Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat, and threatened to kill the actor if he didn’t pay a sum of 50 lakhs.
Following this incident, Mumbai Police registered a case against an unidentified individual at the Bandra Police Station under sections 308(4), 351(3)(4) of the Indian Penal Code. Although no arrests have been made so far, the investigation is underway.
Shah Rukh Khan, who has been receiving Y+ security since 2023 following threats received after the success of his films ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, has not yet publicly addressed the recent threat call.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of celebrities to threats, especially in the digital age where identity theft and misuse of lost phones are commonplace. The Mumbai Police are working to identify the perpetrator and ensure the safety of the Bollywood superstar.
