Sharad Pawar Slams PM Modi, Raises Concerns Over Autocracy in India

Addressing a campaign rally in Amravati for a Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate, Mr. Pawar praised the contributions of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, saying his role in nation-building cannot be questioned. He criticized the current Prime Minister for constantly criticizing others instead of highlighting his government’s accomplishments.

Mr. Pawar expressed concern that Prime Minister Modi was trying to create fear and emulate Russian President Vladimir Putin. He urged people to not allow autocracy to take hold in India, urging them to correct the “mistake” made in the 2019 elections by supporting the incumbent MP Navneet Rana.

Mr. Pawar praised the Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray for its collaboration with the Congress and NCP to protect the national interest. He emphasized the need to prevent the emergence of an “Indian Putin” and stressed the importance of upholding democratic values.
